This Ostrich Provides Comfort to Orphaned Elephants, Easing Their Loss of Mothers!
“Beautiful Friendship: Unlikely Bond Between Baby Elephant and Ostrich”
Animals often surprise us with their compassion and ability to form deep bonds, often surpassing the kindness of many humans. In a heartwarming story, two orphaned creatures have found solace and companionship in one another.
These two orphans may have faced pitiful circumstances, but they were fortunate to discover friends with whom they could share both their joys and sorrows. This incredible story revolves around the baby elephant, Jotto, and his unlikely friend, an ostrich named Pea, residing in an elephant orphanage in Kenya.
Jotto’s story began when he was just a month old and accidentally fell into a well, separating him from his herd. On the other hand, Pea was rescued in 2014 during an attempt to save a baby elephant, revealing an unexpected bond between the bird and her ostrich brother, Pod.
These two special beings were transported to an elephant sanctuary. While Pod successfully reintegrated into the wild ostrich population, Pea chose to stay with the elephants, finding complete comfort among them.
And just like that, a beautiful friendship blossomed between Jotto, the baby elephant, and Pea, the ostrich. It seems that Pea, the ostrich orphan, firmly believes she is a member of the elephant herd. Meanwhile, baby Jotto is delighted to cuddle with his feathered friend. They have been seen napping together and sticking close to each other throughout the day.
These heartwarming moments unfold at the Nairobi Nursery, where not only Jotto and Pea but also many other orphans receive care and attention until they are ready to return to the wilderness. The hope is that they will remain friends until then and that nothing will keep them apart.
Their friendship is so touching that it’s impossible not to smile when you witness their companionship. It’s a testament to the incredible caring and loving nature of these creatures, which serves as a reminder of the bright spots in our sometimes complicated world.
