This Pretty Woman 2: A Second Chance Movie Poster Has Gone Viral Online – But Sadly, It’s Fake

Pretty Woman poster

A viral poster for Pretty Woman 2: A Second Chance has recently sent fans of the beloved classic into a frenzy, eagerly hoping for a Netflix sequel starring Richard Gere and Julia Roberts. Unfortunately, the excitement was short-lived — the poster is fake, and no sequel is currently planned.

The original Pretty Woman, released in 1990, quickly became one of the most iconic romantic comedies of all time. Starring Richard Gere and Julia Roberts, the film captured hearts worldwide and remains a staple in the genre more than three decades later. Despite its immense popularity, a true sequel has never been made — though that hasn’t stopped fans from dreaming.

A Fake Poster Sparks Real Excitement

The fake poster, which appeared on social media, featured Richard Gere and Julia Roberts reprising their famous roles in a new Netflix film titled Pretty Woman 2: A Second Chance. It even teased appearances by other popular actors like Emma Roberts and Tom Hardy, further fueling speculation.

The poster quickly went viral, gathering thousands of likes, shares, and comments as fans expressed their excitement over the possibility of a sequel. However, despite how convincing the poster looked, it has been confirmed to be just fan art. Sadly, Netflix has no plans to release a Pretty Woman sequel in 2025 — at least for now.

That being said, Netflix still has a stacked lineup of upcoming films next year, including sequels to other beloved ‘90s classics.

Could Pretty Woman 2 Happen One Day?

While the viral poster turned out to be fake, the idea of a Pretty Woman 2 isn’t entirely out of the realm of possibility. Given the film’s enduring popularity — it was the fifth-highest-grossing movie at the time of its release — there’s certainly a strong case for why a sequel could make sense even decades later. The love for Pretty Woman has only grown with time, inspiring new generations of fans.

However, convincing the original stars to return could be a challenge. Richard Gere has previously dismissed the idea of a sequel. While promoting his 2024 movie Oh, Canada, he bluntly told Extra TV, “It wouldn’t work,” when asked about revisiting Pretty Woman. He also admitted he’s puzzled by the film’s continued success, remarking, “It’s about a hooker,” and suggesting maybe younger audiences shouldn’t even be watching it.

Julia Roberts, on the other hand, has shown a bit more openness to the idea. In an interview with CBS Mornings in December 2023, she humorously speculated that her character Vivian might now be running Edward’s business after he “passed away peacefully in his sleep from a heart attack smiling.”

While Roberts’ idea doesn’t lend itself to the most romantic sequel, it shows she’s at least thought about where the characters might be today. Still, no official plans for Pretty Woman 2 have been announced, and the franchise remains dormant — aside from Pretty Woman: The Musical, which has been successfully touring stages around the world since its debut in 2018.

A New Way to Revisit Pretty Woman?

Given the success of Pretty Woman: The Musical, some speculate that if Hollywood were to revisit the beloved story, a big-screen musical adaptation could be the way to go — much like what Paramount did with its Mean Girls musical film in 2024.

A musical movie could introduce the story to an entirely new audience while honoring the legacy of the original. If Gere and Roberts are hesitant to return for a direct sequel, this could be a creative compromise that allows Pretty Woman to live on for another generation.

For now, though, fans will have to settle for the original movie — and perhaps a few fake posters — as they continue to dream of what could have been.
