Caught a “legendary monster” a giant crocodile 4.5 m long, 450 kg, this man argued fiercely
Some people praise, but there are also people who criticize the action of hunting this giant crocodile.
Brother Garrett Wales is a hunter from the town of Brock, Texas, USA. Recently, he had a memorable hunting trip of his life when he caught a giant crocodile that he called a “legendary monster” or a “man-eating giant”.
Accordingly, Mr. Garrett and his team took a 10-day trip to Zimbabwe’s Savé Valley. Here, they were told by locals about the anecdote of a giant crocodile in an irrigation pond. This is the place to supply water for irrigation to the people around. They also often go out to get water and bathe there despite the danger. The legend of this man-eating crocodile has been around for a long time, but no one has actually seen it.
Although there is hardly any accurate information about the crocodile, even if the rumors are true or not, Mr. Garrett and his team still decided to go hunting for it. With the help of local people, they hooked some pieces of meat as bait to lure the crocodile.
The next day, Mr. Garrett went out to check and found that the bait was still intact, but at that moment, he happened to see the crocodile hiding behind the reeds. “It is basking in the sun on the reeds. I kept an eye on it before it slithered into the water. I couldn’t see clearly, but I confirmed it was a ‘giant alligator,'” Mr. Garrett said.
Over the next five days, Mr. Garrett and his team hunted the alligator everywhere. Until the 5th day, they decided to go around the irrigation pond one more time and finally came face to face with the crocodile. It hid among the reeds, just a short distance from them. Not wanting to miss the target again, Mr. Garrett tried to get close to the crocodile and shot it dead with a rifle.
The hunter said it took 9 people to move the crocodile when it weighed more than 450 kg, about 4.5 m long. “I’ve been hunting all my life but I’ve never experienced anything like this,” Garrett said.
Later, Mr. Garrett posted some photos of his achievement, in which the giant crocodile was mounted on a hook to best show its “monstrous” size. However, these images caused a lot of controversy on social networks.
Some people praised Mr. Garrett for his courage and kindness when he was not afraid of danger to destroy the crocodile, helping local people avoid danger. In contrast, many others condemned the act of shooting the crocodile because they did not support hunting the wild animal, wondering why Mr. Garrett did not release it in a safer place. Under public pressure, Mr. Garrett had to temporarily lock both his social networking sites Facebook and Instagram.
