Boeing Unveils F-15EX Eagle II Multirole Strike Fighter for Poland’s Air Superiority
Boeing Showcases F-15EX Fighter Aircraft to Poland for Potential Defense Sales Program
Boeing, a leading aerospace and defense company, has unveiled the F-15EX fighter aircraft to Poland as a potential candidate for the U.S. Department of Defense Foreign Military Sales program. This announcement took place during the annual MSPO International Defence Industry Exhibition, where Boeing is showcasing its advanced defense systems, capabilities, and services. Boeing’s substantial investments in the F-15EX have positioned it as the most capable multirole fighter aircraft currently in production. The F-15EX offers enhanced survivability and capability through features such as fly-by-wire flight controls, a new electronic warfare system, an all-glass digital cockpit, state-of-the-art mission systems, software capabilities, and the ability to carry advanced hypersonic weapons.
Poland’s expressed interest in the F-15EX demonstrates its commitment to maintaining the readiness and effectiveness of its military forces. The F-15EX offers superior interoperability, supportability, affordability, and comes with a robust industry plan that aligns with Poland’s objectives of developing independent defense capabilities. Tim Flood, Senior Director of Global Business Development for Europe and the Americas, stated, “The F-15EX is the world’s most advanced fighter with unmatched capability, lethality, and survivability, making it the right choice to enhance Poland’s security requirements.” Rob Novotny, Director of Business Development for Boeing’s F-15 program, emphasized the aircraft’s potential to excel in current and future threat environments, with enhanced interoperability with U.S. and NATO forces and an extended economic operational airframe life of over 20,000 hours.
The Boeing F-15EX Eagle II, an all-weather multirole strike fighter, is derived from the McDonnell Douglas F-15E Strike Eagle. The U.S. Air Force procured the F-15EX to maintain its fleet size due to the cessation of F-22 production, delays in the F-35 program, and the aging of its existing F-15s. While it may not be expected to compete against modern air defenses beyond 2028, the F-15EX is capable of homeland and airbase defense, enforcing no-fly zones against limited air defenses, and deploying standoff weapons. It officially adopted the name “Eagle II” on April 7, 2021, and is currently in production, with two aircraft already delivered to the U.S. Air Force. Indonesia recently became the eighth country to select the F-15 and is set to become the first export customer for the latest FX variant once the sale is finalized.
Boeing has maintained a presence in Poland for more than three decades. With headquarters in Warsaw and operations in Gdańsk (Boeing Digital Solutions & Analytics) and Rzeszów (Parts & Distribution Services), Boeing employs over 1,000 individuals in Poland and is actively strengthening its engineering capabilities across all three locations. In addition to its expanding presence within the country, Boeing is a significant partner in the Polish aviation industry and maintains strong relationships with local communities, industries, airlines, the Polish Government, and the Polish Armed Forces.
