Alligator and Turtle Spotted on a Florida Adventure Together
Turtles and alligators typically aren’t known to be friends. In fact, officials from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission state that alligators often prey on turtles and other easily accessible creatures.
So, when a travel blogger in Tampa, Florida stumbled upon the rare sight of a turtle hitching a ride on top of an alligator, he couldn’t resist capturing the moment in a photograph.
“I was laughing because it just seemed like such a quintessential Florida thing,” he told FOX 35 News in a statement.
He shared this incredible photo on his “Traveling with Jeff” Facebook page with the caption, “You know you’re in #Florida when you see a turtle riding a gator around a pond like it’s a horse.”
One Facebook user jokingly referred to the turtle as a hitchhiker in the comment section of the post, while others chimed in with comments like, “A ride is a ride” and “Oooohhhh FL.”
