D130: The Ultimate Off-Road Motorcycle Carrier Inspired by Land Rover

Land Rover has always been synonymous with adventure, ruggedness, and timeless design. As an ardent Land Rover fan, I find the iconic shape of their vehicles captivating from the very first glance. Recently, after a memorable photoshoot featuring the classic D90, I felt inspired to embark on a new design journey. This time, I envisioned creating something unique yet true to the Land Rover spirit—an off-road motorcycle carrier based on the single cab Defender 130. This vehicle would cater to rally support teams and motorcycle enthusiasts alike, offering a blend of functionality and distinctive aesthetics.

In designing the D130, my aim was to achieve a lightweight, utilitarian appearance that exuded an aggressive charm, while ensuring the vehicle remained easily maintainable and enjoyable to drive. I wanted it to possess a quirky character, making it a standout among fellow Land Rover enthusiasts.

The front of the D130 amalgamates design elements from different Land Rover generations. While the overall shape is derived from the Defender, certain details pay homage to the Series II and even the Series I. The front end boasts a shorter hood, complemented by small position lights on the sides and a center grill, subtly offset toward the rear. This unique blend of characteristics imparts a distinctive personality to the D130.

At the rear, the D130 boasts two spare wheels, which can be substituted with two sets of spare wheels specifically designed for motorcycles. Additionally, there is a tool cabinet to store essential equipment, a dedicated space to accommodate two motorcycles securely, a ramp for easy loading and unloading, and an off-road recovery kit to ensure preparedness for any challenging terrain.

The D130 is intended to serve as an ideal support vehicle for rally teams and motorcycle riders. Its robust frame and open chassis not only offer excellent durability but also provide practicality for maintenance and customization. The carrier’s design ensures that motorcycles can be loaded and unloaded effortlessly, facilitating smooth transitions during rallies or off-road adventures.
