INTRACOM Defense Electronics (IDE) announced the contract award by Raytheon Technologies for the production of electronic modules for the propulsion of electronic modules for the support and sustainment of the surface-to-air RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM). The contract value stands at 4.16 million USD, signifying an expansion of the long-lasting successful cooperation between the two companies and solidifying IDE’s position as a key supplier in the global supply chain of Raytheon Technologies. This contract is a continuation of successful cooperation between the two companies and confirms the high quality level and competitiveness of the Hellenic company.
IDE expanded its cooperation with RAYTHEON Missile Systems with a $2.7 million contract for the production of the RAM (Rolling Airframe Missile) surface-to-air missiles in 2012. In the frame of this agreement, which was the exercise of a previous contract, electronic units of the infrared seeker IR-ELX manufactured and delivered by December 2012. The RAM is a small, lightweight, infrared homing surface-to-air missile used by the German, Japanese, Greek, Turkish, South Korean, Saudi Arabian, Egyptian, Mexican, UAE, and United States Navies. It was originally intended primarily as a point-defense weapon against anti-ship missiles. RAM rolls as it flies. The missile must roll in flight to optimize the two antennae’s broad field of view for searching the sky for enemy missiles. RAM employs a rocket motor with thrust-vectoring control.
