Little Girl Born With A White Patch Of Hair That Is Exactly Like Her Mother’s
The likelihood of four members in the same family having the same distinctive white patch of hair is unknown, but it’s safe to assume it’s a rare occurrence. MilliAnna Worthy, an 18-month-old girl from Ridgeland, South Carolina, defied the odds and inherited the same unusual genetic trait as her mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
The debate surrounding birthmarks being genetic or random has persisted for a long time. While some argue that these marks appear randomly, others believe that genetics play a significant role in their occurrence.
For MilliAnna Worthy, the latter turned out to be a delightful reality. She was born with her mother’s unique white fringe, and as she reached 18 months of age, it became even more prominent.
The girl’s hair color is quite distinct, and that’s due to a rare condition called poliosis. This condition results in insufficient pigmentation in the skin and the surrounding hair, leading to the appearance of a white patch.
“We are unsure how far back the birthmark goes as my grandmother was adopted as a child and hasn’t met her biological family,” Brianna, MilliAnna’s mother, explained.
Brianna had always hoped that her daughter would also possess this distinctive trait. Given that one of Brianna’s younger sisters did not have it, she was uncertain if MilliAnna would inherit it as well.”But once I had her and they laid her on my chest, and I saw she had it, I was so happy,” Brianna expressed.Brianna grew up believing that her hair was her distinguishing feature and eventually came to embrace it as her own unique signature look.
“I intend to raise my baby knowing she is beautiful and wonderful, and not to listen to people’s nasty words at times,” Brianna shared.
Hopefully, one day, the world will be free from anger and rude comments, particularly towards such beautiful and unique individuals like Brianna and her little princess, MilliAnna.
