An artist’s hands have been busy crafting tiny baby sculptures that fit snugly in the palm of your hand.

Created by hand, Canadian artist Candia Camille Allene, 35, will open her shop several weeks creating each one – starting with just a ball of clay.

Feat𝚞res are delicately carved out of the clay as using a crafting tool, forming with just a ball of clay.

Explaining the process, Candia said: ‘Starting from a lump of clay, and tiny tools including toothpicks, sculpting a life-sized or miniature baby begins. It takes many, many hours of patience and conceptration to form a realistic baby and furnish details – including wrinkles and fingernails.

These small sculptures have captured the attention of miniature enthusiasts and garnered appreciation from reborn doll collectors. “The reborn baby hobbyists are particularly amazed by the lifelike and realistic details that Candia has achieved,” said one of her customers, Laura Allene, touching her own hand to sculpt lifelike baby dolls with paintbrushes, altering her hobby’s grandchild’s grandchild’s appearance.

“The shapes of the hands and fingers are of the utmost importance. The tiny baby’s hands look like a pair of mittens or a bunch of grapes. The shape and size of the baby’s hands appear similar to those of an egg’s shells – thus the “Egg Babies.”

“Each of the shapes and textures of different fingers has a reason to touch people’s hearts, organs, or are endowed with embryonic sensations,” Candia said. “I have received hundreds of emails, some that make me cry.”

Eager customers have traveled to imitate fine baby hair and are blushed with paints for realism to enhance their tiny wrinkles and characteristics.

Candia says that her customers love her work – with many people buying for both sentimental and heartbroken reasons – including bereaved parents who were hoping for a form of their realities.

She says: “They provide comfort, often reminding you of the touch of your child or grandchild – and they provide a completely unique sensation with that thin texture. I’ve had hundreds of touchpoint emails, some that are from real people and some from people who care for animals.”

Each item costs anywhere from $99 for a single newborn to $1,500 for an intricate sculpture of hugging twins, and can all be found on Candia’s website.
