Unveiling Abu Dhabi Ship Building’s 510 OPV: A Cutting-Edge Offshore Patrol Vessel Sets Sail

Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), a prominent entity in the design, construction, repair, maintenance, refit, and conversion of naval and commercial vessels, has revealed its latest accomplishment – the 510 Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV). This OPV, which measures 51 meters and is constructed by ADSB in the UAE, was introduced during the Indo Defence Expo & Forum 2022 held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on November 5th.

Engineered to operate effectively in adverse sea conditions, the 51-meter vessel boasts a large modular deck that can be configured for vessel operations or equipment transport, as well as the deployment of various combat systems. With a fuel capacity of 65,000 liters, it offers an extended operational range, making it suitable for tasks such as search and rescue missions, fast-attack operations, and other offshore activities.

David Massey, CEO of ADSB, expressed pride in the launch of this new patrol vessel. Co-designed by ADSB and ASEAN Shipyard, the vessel showcases the expertise and dedication of the company’s experts and employees. Built to cater to diverse tasks, the vessel meets the rising global demand for tactically advanced and sophisticated patrol vessels, equipped with high-level multi-mission capabilities. In line with the UAE leadership’s vision, ADSB aims to develop ‘Made in the UAE’ products with significant export potential, demonstrating its capabilities to prospective customers during the Indo Defence event.

The 510 OPV is a joint effort between ADSB and ASEAN Shipyard, known for their wide range of naval vessel designs and portfolio. Configured for transport, the vessel can accommodate two 11-meter fast interceptors, a rigid-hull inflatable boat (RHIB) with rapid deployment, various search and rescue (SAR) equipment, a multifunctional crane, two jet-skis, a remotely operated vehicle (ROV), an aft deck, and side rescue gates. The company is expanding its offerings by constructing offshore patrol vessels in its extensive 300,000 square meter Abu Dhabi shipyard. As part of the Platforms & Systems cluster at EDGE, ADSB has a competitive portfolio of internationally recognized designs in the 11-51 meter range.
